Summary

This is Roblox's Terms of Use, a platform Terms of Service governing a gaming and social platform heavily used by children. The document is significantly one-sided in favor of Roblox, granting the company broad rights to terminate accounts, remove purchased content, and modify terms with minimal notice. Users do not own any virtual purchases — all Robux and Virtual Content are licenses that can be revoked at any time without refund. The document includes mandatory arbitration and a class action waiver for U.S. users, and contains numerous provisions that are particularly concerning given the platform's large minor user base.

Flagged Clauses

Dangerownership

When you buy Robux with real money, you do not own them. Roblox can take them away at any time, for any reason, without paying you back or even notifying you. Your real money purchase converts to a license that Roblox can revoke.

Robux have no equivalent value in real currency... your acquisition or purchase of Robux only entitles you to receive a limited, non-transferable, revocable license to use Robux... This includes the right to modify, revoke, or terminate your license to use Robux without notice, payment, or liability to you.

Dangerownership

Everything purchased in Roblox — avatar items, game passes, experience access — is not actually owned by the user. There are no enforceable property rights, meaning Roblox can remove these items without legal obligation to compensate you.

Virtual Content has no real world equivalent value, and you do not acquire any enforceable property rights in and to any Virtual Content based on any transaction on the Services.

Dangertermination

If your account is suspended or terminated — even for a minor or disputed violation — you can lose access to everything you've ever purchased on the platform, with no guaranteed refund.

Account suspension or termination may also involve the suspension or termination of access to any content you have acquired on the Services, including without limitation Robux, Experience access, In-Experience Items, and Virtual Items.

Warningtermination

Roblox has complete discretion to terminate accounts. The standard for doing so (e.g., 'repeat infringer') is also determined solely by Roblox, meaning users have limited recourse against potentially unfair termination decisions.

Roblox reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to terminate or suspend (i) your Account and (ii) your right to use and access the Roblox Services... Roblox may also terminate your Account if Roblox determines, in its sole discretion, you are a repeat infringer.

Dangerarbitration

U.S. users cannot sue Roblox in court or join a class action lawsuit. Disputes must go through private arbitration, which is generally less favorable to consumers. This is especially significant given how much money users spend on the platform.

For U.S. Users, Roblox's Arbitration Agreement (Section 13)... contains A BINDING, INDIVIDUAL ARBITRATION AND CLASS ACTION WAIVER. THIS MEANS THAT YOU GIVE UP THE RIGHT TO BRING AN ACTION IN COURT, INDIVIDUALLY OR AS PART OF A CLASS ACTION.

Warningmodification

Roblox can change the terms at any time. What counts as 'non-material' is decided by Roblox itself. Simply continuing to use the service means you've agreed to the new terms, even if you weren't notified.

non-material changes, feature updates, or modifications made for legal reasons (as determined by Roblox) will be deemed to be effective immediately and without notice. Changes shall be in effect as of the 'Last Updated' date... Your continued use of the Services after the Last Updated date constitutes your acceptance.

Warningmodification

Roblox can change how Robux work — including their value or availability — at any time without user consent. This could affect the worth of Robux you've already purchased with real money.

Roblox, in its sole discretion, may implement changes to Robux at any time. This may include limiting the number of Robux a User may acquire or lowering the purchase price of Robux.

Warningpayment

Almost all purchases on the platform — Robux, Virtual Content, and most items — are explicitly non-refundable. Users have very limited ability to get money back even if something goes wrong.

Except as required by law, all payments for Robux are final and not refundable... All such transfers are final and, unless otherwise permitted by Roblox through its policies or practices or as required by law, non-refundable and non-reversible.

Cautionauto renewal

UGC Subscriptions automatically renew and charge your payment method. You must actively cancel to stop being charged. This applies to subscriptions sold by creators, not just Roblox directly.

When you purchase a UGC Subscription, you agree that your subscription will automatically renew and that Roblox, through its payment provider, is authorized to charge your payment method accordingly until you cancel the UGC Subscription.

Warningcancellation

Roblox can remove any content — including things you paid for — without warning and without refunding you. Paid experiences, items, and subscriptions can disappear from your account and Roblox has no liability for your financial losses.

Roblox has the right, in its sole discretion, to suspend the availability of, or remove from the Services and your Account, any content (including without limitation Experiences, Virtual Content, UGC Subscriptions, and UGC) without advance notice. Roblox shall not be liable to any User for any losses you may experience because of such suspension or removal, and Roblox is not required to refund any Robux or other funds that a User has spent on any removed or suspended content, except where legally required.

Warningliability

Roblox disclaims all warranties about the availability or value of purchased content. Users take on significant financial risk when making purchases because Roblox accepts no responsibility for loss of access to paid-for content.

Roblox makes no guarantees or warranties regarding Robux or their availability or value... Roblox is not required to refund any Robux or other funds that a User has spent on any removed or suspended content, except where legally required.

Cautiondata sharing

Roblox collects biometric data (facial geometry) for certain features. The full details of how this data is handled are in a separate notice, not in this document. Given the platform's young user base, this is particularly sensitive.

Facial Media Capture Privacy Notice applies to any User who uses additional features on Roblox that require the use of one's camera or the uploading of files that contain an individual's facial geometry (including age verification) and explains how Roblox collects, uses, shares, retains, and destroys your Biometric Data.

Cautionip rights

All users — not just creators — are bound by the Creator Terms regarding content. The specific IP license terms for user-created content are governed by the Creator Terms (a separate document), meaning users must review that additional document to understand their content rights.

These User Terms, along with the additional Creator Terms, govern... User Generated Content or 'UGC.' UGC is content of any kind or nature... that Users create, upload, submit, publish, display, generate, transmit, or otherwise make available on the Services. ALL USERS ARE SUBJECT NOT ONLY TO THESE USER TERMS BUT ALSO TO THE ADDITIONAL CREATOR TERMS.

Infopayment

Roblox states that only adults can make real-money purchases. However, by permitting a minor to use the services, a parent/guardian agrees to be responsible for all activities including purchases, meaning parents are financially liable for minor spending.

Only Users who have reached the age of majority in their jurisdiction or state of residence may purchase Robux or engage in other real-money transactions on the Services.

Cautionliability

When Roblox facilitates shopping for real-world products through its Commerce feature, it takes no responsibility for those transactions, purchases, deliveries, or disputes. Users deal entirely with third-party sellers at their own risk.

Roblox is not a party to any transactions through the Commerce Provider Website... to the fullest extent permitted under applicable law, Roblox is not responsible for such claims.
